Basic Description of the Moravian Church

The Moravian Church is an ancient evangelical Protestant Christian Church which confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our organized beginning was in 1457 in what is now the Czech Republic, with our name being taken from the region of that country called Moravia. Today, the witness of the Moravian Church has spread to across the globe. Our worldwide membership is around 720,000. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. The best expression of our life and faith is found in our motto, "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love."
